They also gave me a 3000 dollar credit line which I wasn’t even aware of. So today I open my mail from American express and to my horror they have lowered my credit line by 1500 dollars. I call them to find out what the hell has happened, and they say that my recent delinquency on my Lowe’s account has not only affected my credit score, but they wont even consider restoring my credit line until 6 months from now. Now, I’m aware that my credit is by no means “A.1″, but I also know it is good enough for me to have recently re-financed my home, and get me the lowe’s card (which never arrived at my home by the way, it was sent to the wrong address). Oh, and I am somehow 2 months “delinquent” on a dishwasher I purchased in october 07′ which was supposed to be interest and payment free for 1 year.
Now I know Amex cant do anything, but I know Lowe’s owes me a credit fix at the minimum. What can I expect as far as compensation for the damage they have done to me here?
Just wanted to mention my home address is correct on all the paperwork for the dishwasher, yet my card and bills (which I shouldn’t even be getting) all went to the wrong address.

I know that typically, a person has to go through up to 10 years to restore their credit, but I didn’t bring this on myself, and had excellent credit before all of this happened. So, is there some way that I can have my credit score restored to what it was a year or so ago? I don’t see having the next 10 years of my life ruined because of some unethical employer.

I am interested in fixing my credit, but I am clueless of where to start. I am very wary of credit agencies being a scam. If you have had credit troubles, and restored or are currently restoring good credit, can you please tell me a bit about how you did it- links to agencies, and personal experiences would be much appreciated.
note: Much of what I owe is outdated medical bills, utilities from when I was in college- really OLD stuff.
