Can the mortgage banking industry regain its good reputation in the near future?

Can confidence and trust be restored quickly after millions of foreclosures and ruining the credit of so many? Maybe people should not accept loans they cannot afford and learn it doesn’t help to be sore losers.

How can I fix my credit?
Filed Under Credit | 8 Comments
I took out a $500 loan about 2 years ago from bank of America I paid back about half of it but have not made a payment in over a year. I keep getting calls because the bank turned it over to a collection agencies, but I wanted to know how badly this has hurt my credit and how hard will it be to try and restore my credit. I had no previous credit history before the loan.

Hi, I’m 23 years old and have accumilated $20,000 in debt. I started going to school full-time last year so my income shrunk and I couldn’t afford the payments. Last year I joined a program by Debt Settlement America to settle my debts.
My question is how bad is debt settlement going to affect my credit report? Will it be long term affects or short term? Does my score raise when I settle an account? And finally, will my credit ever be restored again or am I going to be carrying around the cursed credit report for the rest of my life?

Usually, when a party of individuals wants to restore their credibility following an incident in which they are morally & legally wrong,…
(especially in the eyes of everyone else who KNOWS that this party of individuals are morally & legally wrong) the guilty party takes the 1st step by ADMITTING that they acted illegally.

Of course, I am talking about the Iraq 2003 invasion by the US.
(even though Article VI Paragraph 2 of the US Constitution states that:
Any treaty signed by the US becomes part of the Supreme Law of the Land)
The US signed the UN Charter (1945) which outlaws starting wars (with 2 exceptions):
1) Country A may attack country B (Thus country B may attack country A)
2) If the UN Security Council specifically authorizes it.
**
Addressing #1:
It has been discredited that Saddam had a link with Bin Laden (and no WMDs).
Addressing #2
The UN Security Council NEVER authorized the 2003 invasion of Iraq (because THEY KNEW Saddam wasn’t a threat).
**
Thus, the 03 Iraq invasion was & is ILLEGAL.
**
When Obama “spoke against” the Iraq war (at any time) he NEVER admitted it was an illegal act of aggression…he just said that it would have “undetermined consequences”.
QUESTION;
1) Do you think that the non-American people of the world will accept American moral leadership in the UN & the world …just because we elect a biracial man as President??
2) If Obama doesn’t admit that the 03 Iraq invasion was & is ILLEGAL, then how much credit does he deserve as far as “restoring America’s credibility” (in the eyes of Americans AND non-Americans)??

I’d like to buy a house, in the under $100,000 range, but my credit score is 512. I have verifiable income of $35,000. My husband and I make around $70,000 per year together. He has similar credit to mine. There are some issues on my credit report that stem from fraudulent credit card use and old medical bills that I am working to get resolved. I can make a down payment, around 10%. Also, I’m interested in an older house to restore, since historic preservation is my career field. How can I borrow more than the amount of the purchase price to do renovations?

In bad credit card debt. Should I file for bankruptcy or is there a program that can help?
Filed Under Personal Finance | 7 Comments
I am in very bad credit card debt. i owe about 16 thousand and make only $462 a week take home. I also pay $450 a month for rent plus utilities. If i filed for bankruptcy, what are the procedures and how long would it take until i can restore my credit and get credit again (i live in New York city..brooklyn) I keep trying to make payments..since i owe so much i miss payments sometimes and get way off track and have a bad time getting back on track. for instance…i finally payed my chase card $234. the customer service woman said that next payment would only be 120 and now the automated service is telling me my minimum payment is 400….how can i handle that. My main concern is getting out of this without effecting me horribly in the long run? after filing for bankruptcy how long would it take to restore credit…does it apply differently to different people? are their any programs that can help that wont hurt my credit? PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!

If my father adds me as an authorized user on his accounts, will it help my score?
Filed Under Credit | 6 Comments
I have bad credit and am trying to quickly restore it. I have heard that “borrowing someone else’s credit could help my score. My father has excellent credit. He has a few cards with hardly any balance and excellent payment history. Depending on whether the creditor will report this card on my credit report, will this help my score?
